so I am basically halfway through the initial and hopefully final round of radiation and chemo at hopkins. i need to post an updated picture of myself so everyone can see my bald/shaved head.i had a few fun days being able to pull out handful clumps of hair to make the boys and laci laugh but all the hair that was accumulating on my pillow at night started getting into my mouth so i got out the electric clippers i use every summer to shave my head and beard and just made it official.as far as my health,it’s pretty good although my weight is down more than i like and the siezure meds are barely working as i tremor and tremble all the time and have lost most of the fine motor control in my hands .also my digestive system isn’t great either but i have an appointment due to be scheduled with a hopkins nutritionist that should help me find foods that i will both crave and be able to keep down. i was finally prescribed ambien and last night was the first night i had ambien together with my oxycodone pills and i slept the whole night through. first time in over 35 days that that has happened.
nov 12, about halfway done with chemo and radiation at hopkins. Thursday, Nov 12 2009

I hope you can find some good Indian food that works. We’re thinking about you.
unfortunately frederick lacks a good indian or thai restaurantgood luck on jhrs.
Wow! It is such great news to hear you have fought this to this point. You have been in my prayers and daily thoughts. Have another friend, Greg Hughes, diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in the back of his throat…talked to him yesterday after about 8 weeks of serious and agressive treatment — prognosis is he will fully recover, with about a year out to get his taste back. Praying for more nights of good sleep and a speedy recovery. Let me know if there is something I can do to help.
Aloha,
Paul
i will add your friend to my prayers as well overall this brain cancer hasn’t been too hard to bear whether that’s because i am a mean and ornery tough guy or God has been pulling me through it because of all the people praying for me. body cancers that can metastcise are a lot more scary in my opinion. thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. sorry for the lag time in blog updates. my night-creature habits are no longer in effect as i sleep from about 17:00 to 0700 every night i can
What’s up man!!! If you need me to; I will write a strong J&A for the nutritonist to keep “Hot & Spicy Noodles” on the menu!!!
P.S. There’s suppose to be a Gun Show at the Frederick Fair Grounds Sat 14th & Sun 15th. Not sure how good it will be though. I’m going Sat in the morning, $8.00 admission.

So glad to read any post you can put up. Maybe some fine food would include LA white shrimp! Let me know.
i never knew lower alabama was known for it’s white shrimp other than bubba-gump recipies. i am a little nervous about eating shipped seafood honestly, but thanks for the offer
Man, I hear you on sleep – sorry you needed ambien and oxy to get a good night’s sleep (at least I hope it was a good night). Bald is the new style anyway – so you are fitting right in with the cool kids
)
I know it is hard, by stay strong in your mind and faith. Please know that my family and I think of you often and pray constantly for strength and health.
Let me know if there is anything you need..
thanks. i feel worlds better now that i have gotten like 4 straight nights of solid sleep. it was funny to me that the day ishowed up in the radiation clinic with my head shaved everyone was telling me how good i looked assuming i guess that having all my hair fall out was some kind of trauma for me…
Scott,
Good to hear an update from you. It is good you finally got a good nights sleep, sleep is an important recovery tool that is why I try to get as much as possible, even at work. Kidding about the work thing but some people here are not. As far as the hair thing that should be no worries for you either because you did keep your hair short anyway. Call me sometime, and hope the Gods bless you with a quick recovery!!
George
i thought you were god. i’ve been waiting for an explanation for all of this crap since it started so if you don’t mind in between your naps at work can you please let me know what the point is
It was great seeing you.Ilove the new doo

Hey Scott,
Glad to hear your 1/2 way through. That’s great! Hair will grow back so no big deal. Plus I’m sure you look great bald! I’ll be bringing my new and fav dish over this weekend. Lots of Prayers! Kieran says a prayer for you every night.
