i have a couple of annoying contributing factors to my cancer/ siezure story. in 2003 i was diagnosed with chronic hyperacusis(extreme sensitivity to some sounds and frequency ranges which in my particular case is higher frequency engine noises such as those that eminate from 4 cylindar lawn tractor engines. well my next door neighbor apparantly chooses the fall to buy and plant lots of trees and bushes so for the last couple of weeks he’s been going all out all day every day diging and moving said plants and trees all over his yard. Here’s a picture of his tractor(he has all the accessories in addition to the front end loader, like the auger and the ditch witch. i estimate his total investment as being around $25-35K into this thing which is fine by me, it’s his money and his right to spend it how he wants. i just wish he would hurry up and finish his project. also, some old news to report. old news but with a positive outcome given the last two times i had to make a visit to the Frederick ER. Last thursday my headache pain started ramping up to the level it was at when i had the brain bleed so after consulting with the hopkins neurosurgery on-call doc we drove to the ER and got yet another cat scan. thankfully this time there was no indication of a brain bleed, just more edema due to my decadron taper. after a couple of iv injections of decadron and some dilaudin pain meds they let us go without having to ambulance it over to hopkins for another surgery/ admittance…i also got my sutures removed in a clinic visit at hopkins on tuesday where we strenuously reviewed my steroid taper and decided to go a lot more conservative on the speedof the taper. 3mg 4x a day was just not enough. now i am at 4mg 6x a day and that seems to be working fine for me. i am also taking hydrocodone every 4 hours to help. it’s a biiiiig help
wish i could, but cannot get much rest at home. Wednesday, Oct 14 2009

Scott,
Glad to hear that the meds are working for you. And I remember that there were sounds in the office that would trigger hearing pain for you. Now let’s talk football. I talked to Lisa down the hall and she asked me whose team is called Cajun or something like that. I didn’t know it was you until Jay told me. Come to find out she suffered her first lost this season to your team. She beat me earlier in the season and I scored over 100 points, that ain’t right!! This week Payton has a bye coming up, I’m going to be hurting. I always get about 25 pts from him.
As always were all praying for you..
Later,
Scott,
Our church is praying for you and your family.
Hey Scott, driving back from Bragg and checking your blog. Glad to hear the meds are working and that you are continuing to get better. I have done the hyrocodone therapy and agree – it is a big help (when I had my surgery my wife would make me take the meds so she could relax). With Saints playing well, I assume that helps your mood – Brees is a man among boys at the QB position! As always, you are in our thoughts and prayers – stay strong and positive.
Thanks Scott, the first part of your story is what I needed to for an excuse of why I am not doing the yard work around here!! You never know who all I might be affecting with that silly lawnmower noise!!
Anyway, glad to hear the last scan went well and I agree with your earlier comment about the American attitude!! Need anything, let us know.
Oh and by the way, with all this rain I am now trying to convince Georgia that we really do need a boat!!!!!

Hey Scott, sorry I missed you yesterday. We are thinking about you and praying for you. I love the Halloween decorations. It’s awesome that Laci is able to keep the fun alive for Halloween with all the chaos right now.
Take Care, Thea
Scott,
I hope the neighbor is done with his yard work. If he isn’t maybe someone could hook you up with a RPG
. It is good to see things are looking up. Take care, and the whole 28th says HI!

Hey Scott, talked with Jay a few days ago and understand that you are physically sick and weak due to the meds and treatments you are undergoing – and I am sorry to hear this.
Be strong in spirit and mind as these are your best weapons in this fight. Know that your friends are thinking of you and pray for a full recovery.
Since Laci talks to Jay regularly, please pass any requests for assistance (anything you might need) to me through him.
Think of and praying for you continuously,
Steve F
What’s up man, just checking in to say hello!!!
